Felonies
There are four different levels of felony charges. Felony charges are typically considered more serious than misdemeanor charges. This is because punishment for a felony conviction includes time in the Institutional Division of the Texas Department of Corrections, not in the county jail. Felony charges include some drug charges, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, aggravated assault offenses, intoxication manslaughter, driving while intoxicated charges (2 or more prior convictions required), murder, robbery, and many more. Being convicted of a felony offense follows you for the rest of your life.
